A large lupin flower, bursting with life in purple and white, dominates the scene. Its florets and leafy stalks are in sharp relief as a blurred background of, groves of trees, cleared slope, rolling hills and, in the great distance a snow capped mountain rises into the sky. White clouds are frozen in the sky over the far-off mountain.

This lupin was found rather close to the parking lot of Timberline Lodge at Mt Hood. As you can see in the blurred slope below, there are numerous instances of lupins growing, doting the grasses with a purple smudges. June, July and early August are wildflower season at Mt Hood. Flowers are all over the the area and the variety of types is amazing.

My first shutterbug adventure came at the age of 22 when I took a Black and White Photography class at the Local community college. It was in this class that I began to appreciate what you could express within the medium of photographs. Especially black and white photos. I enjoyed this class immensely and received high praise from my teacher for the images I turned in. This was back before the digital age of photography.
